Fine Dining in Southern Ohio or Homestyle Country Cooking in Vinton County-Vinton County is known for staying true to its hometown Appalachian traditions. Parades running straight down Main Street and small town festivals filled with fun for the entire family are as much a part of the life here as ice cream shops and pizza parlors that still deliver a hot meal. Visitors may disagree on whether it's fine dining in Southern Ohio or good, old fashioned country cooking they are looking for in a meal, but both are easy to find in these Appalachian foothills.

It isn't a surprise to see restaurants with mouthwatering American cuisine on street corners. There is hometown cooking at several local eateries and even a handful of fine dining restaurants dotting the gently rolling hillsides just outside town too. You can sample chef-designed pastries and stop for a cup of coffee or two. With the variety of small town mixed with the nearby Hocking Hills Region resorts, there is so much to sample in our communities.

Unique lodging, covered bridges and miles of parks and forests make Vinton County an extra special place to visit. Once a huge part of the iron producing industry, the only remaining reflections of this past are a handful of iron furnace remnants, an allegedly haunted train tunnel and a few ghost towns nearly hidden beneath the tall grass. Instead of urban sprawl of the mid-1800's, the region has transformed itself over the last 150 years into a wonderland of outdoor recreation. There are over 70 miles of public trails for hiking, horseback riding and backpacking. There are beaches, gift shops, small towns and covered bridges. It's a place just off the beaten path of both time and highway. It's Vinton County, Ohio.
